During the 1973 Yom Kippur War, Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Dayan warned Prime Minister Golda Meir that Israel was facing 'the end of the Third Temple,' a code phrase for nuclear weapons. In response to the surprise Arab offensive, Meir authorized the assembly of 13 nuclear devices for Jericho I missiles and F-4 aircraft targeting Syria and Egypt.
